🕵️‍♂️ Digital Sherlock: Elementary, My Dear AI

The University of Surrey researchers have created software to verify how much information an artificial intelligence (AI) has learned from an organization's digital database.

The software can help determine whether an AI has accessed sensitive data or learned too much as part of a company's online security protocol.

It can also determine whether an AI has discovered and exploited flaws in software code. The study was named the best paper at the 25th International Symposium on Formal Methods.

🤝 easyJet and Winnow Take a Bite out of Food Waste with AI

easyJet Holidays has partnered with Winnow, a commercial food waste solutions company, for a pilot program to reduce food waste and run more sustainable kitchens in destinations where the company offers package holidays.

The test will take place at the Bahia Principe Sunlight Costa Adeje resort in Tenerife, one of easyJet's most famous hotels.

Kitchens can learn to identify food waste and use the data to make operational improvements using AI tools Winnow developed.

Using Winnow's technology, food waste in hotel kitchens was cut in half within 12 to 18 months, saving between 2% and 8% on food purchases.

🦾 The AI Arms Race: Can We Control the Uncontrollable?

The race between the United States and China to develop artificial intelligence (AI) technology for military purposes may be more challenging to control than nuclear proliferation during the Cold War.

AI-enabled weapons have the potential to improve military precision and decision-making, but there are concerns that they will outperform human intelligence, leading to accidents or unintended escalation.

The difficulty of verifying compliance has hampered efforts to regulate AI use, the large number of actors involved, competition between the US and China to develop AI, and the lack of a broader détente between the two countries.

💼 Nobel Prize Winner Suggests ChatGPT Can Accelerate the Four-Day Workweek

According to Nobel Prize-winning labor economist Christopher Pissarides, using chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard could result in a productivity boost that allows for a four-day workweek.

Pissarides believes workers could have more leisure time, improve their overall well-being, and increase productivity. While the technology could still turn evil, Pissarides believes that chatbots could eliminate tedious work and leave only interesting work to humans.

In a Goldman Sachs report, generative AI like ChatGPT could affect 300 million jobs globally and increase annual global GDP by 7%.

🌹 The Tool Your Business Needs to Blossom and Flourish

Rose AI is an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that assists organizations in automating activities and improving operational efficiency.

 💡 Supervised and Unsupervised Learning

Artificial intelligence employs both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. The machine is trained using labeled data in supervised learning, where the input data is already marked with the correct output.

This labeled data trains the machine to recognize patterns and accurately predict new, unlabeled data.

Unsupervised learning is a technique in which the machine is trained on unlabeled data and is left to discover patterns and relationships independently. The machine will group similar data points and identify outliers or anomalies.

Supervised learning is used when the desired output is known, whereas unsupervised learning finds hidden patterns and insights in data where the desired output is unknown.

-Seth Berguson, a fellow at the World Economic Forum who led their “AI for Children” project

Children and youth must understand that AI has limits and can be wrong. AI has severe limitations and can be biased and prejudiced in its results. Young people should be taught to think critically about and decide how and how much they want to use AI models.
