🔬CRISPR Who? New AI Tool Takes Gene Editing to the Next Level🧬

A brand-new AI tool has the potential to hasten the widespread adoption of gene editing. This innovation might be a more secure option than CRISPR.

The first straightforward manufacture of zinc fingers, a class of programmable proteins that might heal diseases by turning genes on and off, is the result of a new artificial intelligence program.

Researchers from the University of Toronto and NYU Grossman School of Medicine created the method to hasten gene therapy development.

Errors in the sequence of DNA letters carrying the instructions for human cells are the root cause of diseases, including cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs disease, and sickle cell anemia. But occasionally, scientists may fix these errors by rearranging these characters using gene editing methods.

Other diseases are brought on by issues with how the cellular machinery interprets DNA, referred to as epigenetics, instead of a problem with the coding itself.

The zinc finger is one of the body’s most frequent protein structure types. They command enzymes to delete the erroneous code segments to control DNA repair.

🖼️ Shutterstock Gets Ahead of the Game with AI-Powered Image Generation

On Wednesday, January 25, Shutterstock launched an offering to provide consumers access to its generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

According to TechCrunch, users of Shutterstock’s Creative Flow online design platform may now produce visuals in response to text prompts thanks to OpenAI and Dall-E 2.

This information was released after the agreement between OpenAI, and Shutterstock was revealed. As part of the partnership, Shutterstock libraries will be used to train and feed the Dall-E 2 AI image-generating platform being developed by OpenAI.

Shutterstock says the images are accessible for a license as soon as they are produced. It increases the appeal of this function, which doesn’t have a brand name.

This is interesting since Stability AI, the makers of another generative AI service called Stable Diffusion, is currently the target of legal action from Getty Photos, one of Shutterstock’s key competitors.

Apparently, without the other party’s or the rightsholders’ knowledge, Stability AI is using Getty Images images to train Stable Diffusion’s algorithm.

Referring back to Shutterstock’s most recent initiative, the company now provides a service allowing AI to create your desired image. With this effort, Shutterstock distinguishes itself from its rivals by embracing the fascinating new field of generative AI.

🌲 Greenwashing No More? AI Takes on Environmental Law and Compliance

The landscape of environmental law is significantly shifting as a result of AI. It was hard to monitor the ecological effects of business operations or products until recently. We could not fully comprehend the environmental inputs and outputs due to the sheer size and complexity of the numbers. But now that AI technology has made manipulating those data conceivable, the legal industry has completely changed.

An AI neural linguistic model called ClimateBert is already in use to verify company reporting and disclosures related to emissions efficiently. Different technologies are being created to compare climate disclosures with suggested benchmarks to find companies operating in plain sight. And AI’s function will continue to grow; lawyers will be able to rapidly and effectively track a product’s environmental impact or verify ecological claims made on a label. An end to greenwashing? Perhaps.
