👵 Where Is Grandma? The Non-Creepy Way to Monitor Elderly Health ❤️

Researchers at the University of Waterloo have created a wireless, artificial intelligence-powered monitoring system that can watch the activities of older people residing in their homes or long-term care facilities.

The system sends low-power waveforms into space, which are then captured by a receiver and processed by an AI engine to provide alerts to medical specialists when they notice, among other things, a decline in mobility or an increased probability of falls.

The technology uses low-power radar and can be readily mounted on a ceiling or wall, eliminating the need for wearables, which can be uncomfortable for patients.

🚀🌙 Nvidia's Stock Is AI-ming for the Moon, But Is It Overheating?

Market Analysis

Nvidia shares have doubled since reaching a two-year low in October 2022, adding more than $370 billion to the market.

But, cracks may be appearing as the stock has retreated in the last three sessions after temporarily entering overbought territory on its relative strength index.

According to Bloomberg data, Nvidia trades at 56 times anticipated earnings, nearly three times the 21 times the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index, and an about a 150% premium to the Nasdaq 100.

Some investors are concerned that the stock is overpriced and the valuation is "bordering on a little breathless."

🤖⚖️ AI Meets Antitrust: FTC Chair Lina Khan Keeps Tabs on Big AI

According to FTC Chair Lina Khan, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is closely monitoring developments in artificial intelligence to prevent it from being controlled by large technology companies.

Speaking at a Justice Department event, Khan stated that the commission is concerned about AI's reliance on Big Data providing potential for big businesses to grow even more significantly.

She also cautioned corporations not to overestimate the capabilities of their AI products and warned that developers could face deception charges if their technology misleads users.

💰 Whisper Sweet Nothings to AI and Earn $335k Per Year

In the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) technology industry, a new position known as "prompt engineer" has developed.

These engineers, who may earn up to $335,000 annually, coax AI to provide better outcomes and assist organizations in training their personnel to use the technologies.

Firms such as Google, OpenAI, and Meta Platforms have developed over a dozen artificial intelligence language systems. Organizations are discovering that they require someone to add rigor to their results.

Prompt engineers have diverse backgrounds, including history, philosophy, and English.

Those with PhDs in machine learning or ethics, or those who have created AI startups, frequently land the highest-paying jobs.

Expert advice of the day

- John McCarthy, inventor of LISP, one of the major languages used for programming AI

“If it takes 200 years to achieve artificial intelligence, and then finally, there is a textbook that explains how it’s done, the hardest part of that textbook to write will be the part that explains why people didn’t think of it 200 years ago….”
