๐Ÿ’ฐ ChatGPT's Influence Sparks AI Investment Boom: Execs Amp up Their Bets

A Gartner study has revealed that 45% of executives have increased their artificial intelligence (AI) investment due to the influence of ChatGPT.

According to a survey of over 2,500 executive leaders, 70% of organizations investigate generative AI, while 19% are in pilot or production mode.

Sixty-eight percent of executives believe that the advantages of generative AI outweigh the risks. 38% of respondents identified the customer experience as the primary focus of their generative AI investments.

As businesses continue experimenting with generative AI, use cases, including media content enhancement, code generation, and human or machine support solutions, are being investigated.

๐Ÿ“ฑ BuzzFeed Readers Spend 40% More Time Engaging

BuzzFeed Inc. reported that readers spent 40% more time engaging with AI-generated quizzes than traditional ones.

The company also mentioned that "Under the Influencer," a chatbot-based game, received four times more usage than static assessments.

After closing its news operation, the online media company focuses on artificial intelligence. It expects its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization to reach the "high teens" of millions of dollars in the fiscal year 2023.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Supreme Court Upholds Human-Only Patents

The US Supreme Court declined to hear computer scientist Stephen Thaler's challenge to the US Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) refusal to grant patents for inventions created by his artificial intelligence system.

The judges upheld a lower court's judgment that patents can only be granted to human inventors and that Thaler's AI system, DABUS, could not be considered the legitimate creator of two alleged inventions.

Last year, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the USPTO's decision that inventors must be human under US patent law.

๐Ÿ‘ฒ๐Ÿฆ… East Meets West: The Great AI Race Between China and America

AI expert Kai-Fu Lee argues in his new book, AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order that the world of artificial intelligence has become a duopoly, with the United States and China propelling each other's innovations and dominating the global market.

China's rapid advancement in artificial intelligence is attributable to its tech entrepreneurs' superior business model and the country's hypercompetitive business culture, which concentrates on commercially exploiting the data trail of its billion-plus smartphone-using consumers.

Lee envisions the parallel universes of Chinese and American AI expanding globally, with the United States eventually dominating North America, Europe, and Australia, and China eventually dominating South East Asia, Africa, and to some extent South America.

๐ŸŽž๏ธ From Pixels to Patterns: How CNNs Decode the Language of Images

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are an artificial neural network type designed specifically for processing and analyzing visual data such as images and videos. Numerous applications employ it extensively, including image recognition, object detection, video analysis, and natural language processing. CNNs are modeled after the human brain's visual cortex, responsible for processing visual information.

CNNs have multiple layers, including convolutional, pooling, and fully connected layers. Each layer in the network performs a specific function to process the input data and pass the result to the next layer.

Convolutional layers: These layers apply filters or kernels to the input data, which helps detect local features such as edges, shapes, and textures. The filters slide over the input data, performing a convolution operation that extracts valuable information from the input.

Pooling layers: These layers are responsible for reducing the spatial dimensions of the input data by aggregating the values in a local neighborhood. Common types of pooling are max pooling and average pooling. Pooling helps reduce the number of parameters, thus decreasing computational complexity and preventing overfitting.

Fully connected layers: These layers are used at the network's end to perform classification or regression tasks. They connect every neuron in the previous layer to every neuron in the next layer, integrating the features learned by the convolutional and pooling layers.

CNNs have demonstrated remarkable performance in various computer vision tasks, such as image classification, object detection, and segmentation, and have become a popular choice for deep learning applications involving visual data.

The gradual platformization of AI is very interesting to me. The efforts by Google, Amazon, and Salesforce are bringing AI down to a level of not needing to be an expert to use it. โ€ฆ I think the day that any good software engineer can program AI will be the day it proliferates.

Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made an effort to become the best of which you are capable.
