Researchers at the University of Gothenburg have investigated the influence of advanced AI systems on human communication's level of trust.

Their article, "Suspicious Minds: The Problem of Trust and Conversational Agents," investigates how individuals interpret situations in which one party may be an AI agent, as well as the detrimental effects of suspicion, such as relationship damage.

During human interactions, the study discovered that certain behaviors were misinterpreted as indications of robotism.

According to researchers, AI's human-like characteristics can be problematic, mainly when it is ambiguous with whom we are communicating. To increase transparency, they propose developing AI with synthetic yet eloquent voices.

As access to crucial data is restricted, the restrictions may impact the study of AI technologies, potentially impeding international research and discussion on China's AI advancements.
